Diana Gabaldon

This photo was taken during the GrandFather Mountain Games in 2008. A couple of Andersons standing with Diana. What a pleasant experience visiting with her.

Those of you who are familiar with the highly popular Outlander series have undoubtedly become devoted fans…those of you not familiar…what are you waiting for? Diana Gabaldon’s enchanting and adventurous story of Jamie and Claire Fraser, woven into the fabric and history of ancient Scotland will capture your imagination and your heart, and transport you to their magical place in time.  How exciting then, to learn that Diana was at the Grandfather Mountain Highland Games 2008 for a book signing!  To actually meet this phenomenal author was an unexpected pleasure and treasured moment. Latest update? Drum roll please….the story of Jamie and Claire did not end with book 6! There is a 7th book, An Echo in the Bone, due to be published in September 2009. I’m counting down the days…

Dark Birthright

Mystery... Romance... and Violence in 17th century Scotland

I first met Jeanne Treat at Grandfather Mountain Highland Games in 2007, at her book signing for Dark Birthright. This story, set in early 17th century Scotland, is fascinating and full of all things that make a good story….love and loss, adversity and triumph…a great read. It is the first of a trilogy, the second one, Dark Lord is expected sometime in 2009.

Philip D. Smith, Jr

This photo was taken at GrandFather Mountain Games in 2008. After attending several of his classes over the years, we are convinced that Mr. Smith is a true authority on Scottish Heritage.

Several of his authored pages can be viewed at Tartans and Clans on our website.
